Urgent Reminder: Upcoming Deadline for Camp Lejeune Toxic Water Claims is AUGUST 10th, 2024

This week marks four months until the deadline to file ALL Camp Lejeune claims! As the date approaches, individuals affected by the contaminated water at Camp Lejeune are urged to submit their claims. This is a critical reminder to all former residents and employees of Camp Lejeune, as well as their families, who may have been exposed to toxic water at the base between the years 1953 and 1987.

Understanding the Issue

For over three decades, the water supply at the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina was contaminated with hazardous chemicals at concentrations far exceeding safety standards. These substances included trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE), benzene, and other toxic compounds, which are known to cause a variety of health issues, including cancer, birth defects, and other chronic diseases.

Who is Eligible?

Eligibility for filing a claim includes anyone who lived or worked at Camp Lejeune for at least 30 days between August 1953 and December 1987. This also extends to family members (even those in utero) who were not directly employed by the base, but lived there during the contamination period.

Possible Compensation

Victims of the contamination may be entitled to compensation for health issues linked to the exposure. These health conditions include, but are not limited to, adult leukemia, aplastic anemia, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, liver cancer, multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Parkinson’s disease, and many more. Read here and here for more information.

How to File a Claim

To file a claim, individuals must submit all required documentation by the August 10th deadline. It is essential to gather all medical records, proof of residence or employment at Camp Lejeune during the specified dates, and any other supporting documents that establish the impact of the contamination on your health.

Steps to take:

  1. Contact a lawyer specializing in toxic exposure claims. An attorney, such us here at Herd Law Firm, can provide guidance and guide you through the process. Contact us on our website, or call us here at 713-955-3699 to learn more about your options.
  2. Gather all pertinent documents. This includes medical records, military service records (for example, the DD214), and proof of residency.
  3. Submit your claim before the deadline. A knowledgeable attorney can help ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and correctly, and submitted on time.

Why Act Now?

The health effects caused by the toxic water at Camp Lejeune have been devastating for many, and the compensation process is time sensitive. Delaying the submission of a claim will result in the loss of your right to compensation.

Do not miss the opportunity to receive the justice and compensation you deserve. With the deadline just around the corner, it is crucial to act immediately. Remember, the date to mark on your calendar is August 10th, 2024. For more information, visit the official Camp Lejeune claims website, or visit our website and blog for more information!
